![]() The original developers of the Wipeout series, Studio Liverpool, was closed by Sony Worldwide Studios in August 2012. ![]() The Omega Collection features 28 licensed soundtracks if the PlayStation Music app is installed, players can use the " Best of WipEout" Spotify playlist to play tracks from older Wipeout games. An update to the game added support for PlayStation VR. In addition to new special effects and upgraded textures, it also has an optional HDR-compatibility mode which is supported on both consoles. ![]() The compilation is capable of running at a native resolution of 1080p on the PlayStation 4 and 4K on the PlayStation 4 Pro, both at 60 frames per second. The campaigns for both games are split into three groups, in a similar manner to how the HD and Fury campaigns were separated in Wipeout HD Fury. The games contain a total of 26 unique tracks and 46 unique ship models, and include local split-screen and online multiplayer. From the Fury expansion "Zone Battle", Eliminator and Detonator features in the compilation, in addition the entire campaign from 2048. Nine game modes appear in Omega Collection: from HD tournament, speed lap, time trial and single races return, as does the "Zone" mode, in which the player must survive as their ship increasingly accelerates to extreme speeds. The player may replenish energy by absorbing unwanted weapon pick-ups. If the shield runs out, the player's ship will explode and is consequently eliminated from the race. Each ship is equipped with an energy shield which absorbs damage sustained during a race energy is lost whenever the player's ship collides with the trackside barrier, other ships, or is hit by weapon fire. Every ship has different characteristics for example, each ship's statistics vary in handling, thrust, top speed and shield strength. In all games, players control anti-gravity ships which are owned by racing corporations (effectively referred to as 'teams' in-game). Wipeout HD itself contains content from the PlayStation Portable titles Wipeout Pure and Wipeout Pulse. Wipeout Omega Collection is a remaster of the previous two titles in the Wipeout series: Wipeout HD (with its Wipeout HD Fury expansion) and Wipeout 2048. From left to right clockwise, the interface displays the lap and time, shield strength, current position, speedometer, and lap time. Akin to F-Zero's strafing, Redout allows you to adjust your left and right positioning without the change of direction, with Zero G physics this allows you to effectively combine it with steering to drift around corners which to say the least, is quite useful.Screenshot from the remastered Wipeout HD. On the right side of the page there is an option to "Download demo", give it a shot.Įdit: Oh, also I would probably be an idiot not to mention that a large part of steering in this game has to do with strafing. I think the best option for you would honestly be to just try out the demo, it let's you try an easy circuit with the full set of tier 2 machines (minus the dlc one): In short: It doesn't matter how fast you react, if you don't take the correct driving line around a corner (also accounting for weight distribution on zero g) you're going to crash, and sometimes it's not even possible to flatout a corner regardless of what you do anyway so you have to consider things like how best to crash to maintain speed. At that the handling is also quite stiff meaning you have to implement correct driving lines most of the time, the game is not forgiving about how you steer unlike other Zero G racers, which mostly just test how fast you can react.Īll of this means that there is a lot more emphasis on actually testing your driving technique rather than just testing your reflexes via increase of speed (although don't be mistaken for thinking there isn't any of that, Redout is pretty damn fast regardless). The thing is, Redout is kind of different to other Zero G racers in that the machines actually do handle as if though they were Zero G, so if you're going full steam ahead and corner a hard 'll take you a while before you actually start going left (depending on your speed, blah blah weight distribution etc.). Asking a Redout forum about whether they should get Redout or X game is guaranteed to get you biased feedback.
